Christmas Eve

We were fortunate enough this year to spend a full day with each family.

Christmas Eve was spent with Andy's family.  We played, went to Church (Santa came while we were gone),  ate a very nice dinner and opened presents.  Always a fun day!

Oreos

I gave Carmen some mini Oreo's for a snack the other night.   I was amazed how she knew to pull the two pieces apart and eat the white part first..... she thoroughly enjoyed the oreo's and here's some proof.....

Updates

I've finally gotten around to updating the blog.  You'll have to go back to the Pink Eye post to get the first one I did tonight :-)

No promises for the coming month...... Christmas will be busy but I'll do my best to stay up to date

1 Year Old!!!

Carmen is now 1 years old.  We had her 1 year check up last Friday.  Besides the 4 shots she got, it went very well. She is doing extremely well developmentally.  The Dr. was very impressed at how well she's walking/running and babbling.  We have no concerns and neither did the dr.

We aren't sure if she's fighting a bug, if it's from her shots, or antibiotics but she was home with me today with a yucky stomach bug.


What is new with Carmen?

Carmen...

... weighs 23.6 pounds (80%) and 29.5 inches (70%)...

… wears size 3 diapers. She is wearing all some 12 month clothes but is slowly moving to all 18 month and even some 2T things.

... loves to eat!
... is almost done drinking formula.  We hope to have her fully drinking milk by Christmas.  We aren't concerned,  just working to finish the last of the formula :-)

... has 8 teeth.   And the dr. said 2 of her molars look like they might be working.  Her gums were very swollen.

... is still doing very well in swimming.
 

… is WALKING and RUNNING!

...still enjoys her bath

... still loves to climb the stairs

... is "talking" more and more everyday. Says Mama and Dad.  She has started to try and repeat things I will say to her.  Today she said Bath back to me and it was completly clear.

… Looks up in the air no matter where she is when she hears an airplane. Even spots them far away that sometimes Mommy and Daddy didn’t spot first.

… Enjoyed her first Thanksgiving.  She didn't care so much for the food the first time around but the 2nd and 3rd times she thoroughly enjoyed everything but turkey!

...is sleeping very well and through the night!

… continues to smile at everyone!

Tutu

Carmen got a cute new Tutu dress for her birthday.  Here are a few pictures of her wearing it :-)   Along with her Monkey slippers that Daddy bought her.

Carmen's Birthday Party

On Saturday we had Carmen's Birthday Party with our immediate family.  

We had a lot of fun and Carmen did too.  She was SO spoiled (THANK YOU EVERYONE For all the gifts), but she is loving each and every new toy.

She wasn't so sure about her cake... and it's my fault it was in the fridge and a bit hard when we gave it to her, but she did at least try it.

We had a pinata for the kids and even had everyone play Pin the Tail on the Donkey! :-)

Carmen's First Gopher Game

On Friday the 2nd we took Carmen to her first Gopher Game.... I know it's a surprise but it wasn't a football game.

She was such a trooper and sat the whole time. She also clapped when anyone around us cheered. She had no idea what she was doing but knew enough to cheer.

She kept watching Goldy and he finally made his way near us.... Andy put her in his lap and she freaked out....

Carmen's Birthday

So I'm a bit behind on blogging... ;-)  Guess that's what happens with a 1 year old....

On Carmen's Birthday, Andy and I both took the day off to spend with her.   We started out letting her open a gift in the morning.

Then we went to the zoo.

We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.... (they have some good Macaroni and Cheese there) and Mom and Dad like the wings too ;-)

 And let Carmen open a few more gifts at home.

Overall it was a fun day!   So nice that we were both able to take the day off work and spend it with Carmen!

Pink Eye

Two days before Carmen's birthday she woke up with her eye crusted shut.... I immediately knew that it was Pink Eye!  I took her into the doctor and she had pink eye and cellulitis (an infection around the eye).

10 days of antibiotics and it's all cleared up.  But not a fun first few days of Carmen waking up with one of her eyes crusted shut :-(

One year ago today, Andy and I welcomed into the world our beautiful daughter Carmen!   It's so hard to believe that a year has already gone by. She has changed our lives in more ways than we could have ever imagined!
