Six Weeks and Random pictures

Wow! It's hard to believe Carmen will be six weeks old tomorrow.   The time is sure flying by.   We haven't been up to much the last few weeks.  Just enjoying our quiet time at home and usually looking forward to Daddy getting home from work each day!

Here are some random pictures from the past few weeks.

Check out those blue eyes!

Carmen was quite hungry one night and Andy was trying to keep her happy while I was finishing something.  She must've been pretty hungry as she tried to eat Andy's nose.

We still can't believe how much hair she has.

Smiles from Carmen

We think it's pretty funny how Carmen always curls up in a ball when we hold her.

Last night when Andy was holding Carmen she got a grip on his sweatshirt string and wouldn't let go.

First time out

I have survived my first two nights away from Carmen!!!! I only shed a few tears!! I have to admit it was nice to get out and have some adult interaction, but I still missed my baby!!!

Friday night we had Andys company holiday party at Kierans downtown. Grandma Skala was quick to accept our invitation to come over and babysit. We think Grandma lucked out as Carmen is typically pretty fussy at night but she slept almost the whole time we were gone.

Saturday night we had bowling for the bowling league we are in. Auntie Laura accepted our invitation to babysit. Laura wasn't as lucky as Grandma..... I guess Carmen was a handful and cried almost the whole time we were gone. Hopefully she doesn't take it personal and will be willing to babysit again. Thank you Mom and Laura! We greatly appreciate your help.

Since we were going to be gone we tried to give Carmen a bottle ahead of time. Here's her first bottle..... It was quite a battle but got better. Just an adjustment and something I'll have to work on with her before I go back to work.

Happy New Year!

We spent New Years Eve at home this year.  All three of us are now sick! :-(  We are slowly getting better.  Carmen was running a fever and she now has a cough and she's congested.  I feel so bad trying to take care of a newborn who can't tell you what hurts.   Andy and I have had the joys of attempting to use the bulb syringe to clean out her nose..... not the most fun.  Usually one of us has to hold her down and the other tries to get the junk out.

Mommy and Daddy just have a plain old cold.... not fun!  Both of our noses are so raw from blowing them so many times. :-(  It's one thing to take care of someone else when you are sick, but then being sick yourself on top of it is no fun!

We have been very blessed with a wonderful 2010 and the addition of Carmen to our family!

We can only hope that 2011 will be just as good!

A cold.....

Carmen has slowly seemed to get more and more congested.  I took her temp this morning and she was running a fever, so off to the dr. we went.   It just so happened that her one month checkup was supposed to be this coming Monday so we were able to combine the appointments into one.

They were concerned that she had the RSV virus which is very common in children and if not caught early, could lead to hospitalization.  After a bloody murder scream from the swab in her nose, thankfully the test came back negative.

Next they drew blood to check her white blood count.  Again after some very intense screaming, they were able to get enough and concluded that Carmen has a viral infection.... :-(  So we let it take its course and give her tylenol in hopes that will help..............

Her one month stats:

21.5 inches -  75th percentile
11.2 lbs - 95th percentile
14.8 inch head - 75th percentile

What does this mean.... my baby likes to eat :-)

Hoping she gets better soon!!!!!!!!!!!!

Skala Family Christmas

We spent Christmas Day with the Skala Family.  Another fun and memorable day.  Although Carmen won't remember it,  she again got lots of great gifts.

I didn't get any pictures, but a few years back we started the tradition of sledding on Christmas.  All the kids go outside and sled down the hill.   This year, Grandpa even joined us.   The snow was so deep he had to snowblow a path down the hill for us.   We also put silicone on the back of the sleds to make them go faster.   We had a great time!   I ended up going the farthest and I think Andy won for the most creative falls....... he was starting to get a sore neck yesterday.

Thanks Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Erin, Uncle Adam, Conor, Riley and Auntie Laura for a very fun and memorable day and for all the great gifts!

Benedict Family Christmas

On Christmas Eve we spent the day with the Benedict Family.    What a fun first Christmas Eve for Carmen.   Although she slept through gift opening, she is one lucky girl..... she got so many great gifts.

Thanks Grandma, Grandpa, Auntie Christina, Uncle Mike, Ella, Adam, Auntie Nikki and Brooke for all the great gifts!

Pictures from two weeks old to three weeks old.........

Just catching up on posts.... here are some pictures from two weeks to three weeks old.

Time is flying by!  I can't believe it's already been almost a month!

Uncle Adam and Aunt Erin were in town for 10 days, along with Conor and Riley.   Carmen and I were able to spend lots of time with them this past week. Carmen even had her first trip to the Mall of America.

Carmen met my friend Marnie.

Carmen's Newborn Pictures

Here are just a few of Carmen's newborn pictures.  We ventured out in the blizzard a few weeks ago to get them done.

We couldn't be happier with how they turned out!

Two weeks old

I can't believe how fast time is flying by.  Carmen is two weeks old today and she is changing everyday.

We are still doing well..... Daddy had to go back to work this week but we are doing well without him.  We miss him lots during the day and look forward to him coming home!

Here are some pictures from the past few days.
