New Obsession....

Carmen has always been into putting her hands in her mouth, but this week it has really gotten noticeable.   Whether it's her hands,   her thumb :-( or a blanket etc.  it was seems like she is trying to put something in her mouth.

3 Months

I can't believe Carmen is 3 months old today!  Time is going faster and faster each day!

 

What is new with Carmen?

Carmen...

... weighs between 14 and 15 pounds.  We go in again on April 1^st for her 4 month check up and we’ll know exact then.

... wears size 1-2 diapers and mostly 6-month clothes.

... loves to eat.   She takes 6 ounce bottles at daycare and is nursing very well at home.

... just started to discover her hands more.  She loves to eat them and tries to stick her whole hand in her mouth.   There are times she’ll stick it so far that she’ll choke herself ;-)

…just starting to discover her thumb.  We are hoping to avoid that habit.

... is doing awesome at daycare.

...is slowly starting to like her baths.  Initially when she first goes in she starts to cry, but I talk to her the whole time and she’ll be smiling and happy by the end.

.. loves to be talked to.

…loves watching the ceiling fan.  We can lay her down under it and she'll kick and talk to it for quite a while.

…just recently started sleeping through the night.  We are at 4 nights in a row and hope it continues!

... is starting to gain quite the unique personality.  And is a VERY happy baby!!!!

The last week....

We didn't have much going on this past week which was pretty nice. 

Last weekend we had a few visitors.

Auntie Nikki and Brooke came over for a little while.  Brooke helped give Carmen a bottle and then decided she was going to act like a baby and sat in Carmen's papazan.... ;-)

Carmen even held her own bottle for a bit....

We had bowling last Saturday night and Grandma and Grandpa Skala came over to babysit.  We are so lucky and grateful to have 2 sets of grandparents who are so willing to come over and help out.  I was able to get this picture before we left.

Although we aren't there to celebrate with you, know that you are in our thoughts today!   Each year as we grow older,  I realize how much you mean to me!  Thanks for being such a great older sister!!!!!

Footsie

Carmen was hanging out in her Papazan(not sure that's how you spell it... )

She was really focused on her feet.  Andy put his up to her's and she kept them there for quite a while to play footsie with daddy :-)

Daycare

Well we all suvoved Carmen's first full week of daycare.   She did awesome!  The teachers couldn't believe how smiley and happy she is!

Monday night Carmen came home exhausted.  No matter how hard we tried to keep her up she fell back asleep or got mad at us.

It's gotten better each day this week.   We are pretty sure it was just sensory overload, etc from being in a new environment with different people and noises! :-)

It's been a long week for Mommy! Work has been super busy which has made the days fly by, but at the same time I am super tired.  Getting up in the middle of the night for feedings, etc has taken a toll on me when I get up between 5 and 5:30 for the day.   Let's just say I'm looking forward to "sleeping in" tomorrow.   Maybe I can push it til 9...... ;-)

Big Week

Well we all survived a very big week of firsts!

Tuesday was my first day back at work.  Andy stayed home Tuesday and Wednesday with Carmen.
Daddy was a little better about putting Carmen in her pack and play when she was sleeping rather than holding her.

Thursday was Carmen's first day at daycare.   She only went half days on Thursday and Friday but did very well.  The teachers said that she was such a smiley girl and she did very well.   The only time she really cried is when other babies cried.  I am guessing it probably scared her as she's never heard that before.

Friday night was Carmen's first night in her crib.  She did wonderful.   She only woke up twice to eat and then fell back asleep.

Last night (Saturday), was the first night Carmen slept through the night.   She fell asleep on her own in her crib about 10:30 and woke up about 6am.   Sure felt good from Mom's point of view!   Hopefully it will continue.

Tomorrow, Valentines day is Carmen's first full day at daycare.  I'm sure she'll do great.   It's pretty funny but both days she went to daycare she came home and slept a ton.  I think it's a little sensory overload.

End of Maternity Leave...... :-(

Wow, where did time go?????  Here I am the last day of Maternity Leave.  Back to work tomorrow.   I keep getting sad every time I think about it.   I knew it was going to come eventually.  It just feels like it went way too fast!

I am so grateful that Andy took Tuesday and Wednesday off and he will be staying home with Carmen all day while I'm at work.   Carmen will be going to half days of daycare on Thursday and Friday.    Her first full day will be Valentines Day!

Ugh.  I really wish time would just stand still!!!!!!
